Mission Statement:

  • To promote life safety and reduce human suffering and property loss through public education and fire prevention programs.
  • To mitigate the consequences of fire, accident, sudden illness or disaster in the community.
  • To recognize that every individual is valuable and to maximize each members potential, reaching into the future, never forgetting the past.


Departmental Priorities:

  • Prevention of fires through an aggressive education, inspection and code enforcement program.
  • Conduct fire inspections at the frequency established by law or administrative policy.
  • Provide emergency responses by insuring an average of 200 hours annual training per employee, cost effective equipment, modern apparatus, and a disciplined, motivated work force.
  • Hold the cumulative loss of property due to fire to 5% or less of the total value responded to and involved in fire.
  • Continue to assist local businesses and industry in complying with Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986 (SARA).
  • Maintain an average response time of less than 4 minutes to 90% of all emergencies.
  • Provide increased and detailed documentation of efforts expended in providing fire department services.
